Watch the recipe live! Cooking Together: Celebration noodles for Lunar New Year

Anh and Chi kicked off the Lunar New Year with a special moment on live TV! Our co-founder and culinary genius, Chef Vincent Nguyen, appeared on Global News this past Sunday for their "Cooking Together" segment, where he whipped up a dish that perfectly embodies the joy and prosperity of the season—Mi Xao Don//Celebration Noodles. For those who missed the segment, don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with the full recipe below.

Mi Xao Don // Celebration Noodles Recipe

Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 1-2 persons

Ingredients:

  • 5 tsp avocado oil

  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp chicken powder

  • 2 tsp oyster sauce

  • 4 tsp Mẹ’s Sweet Soy Sauce

  • 150 g local side stripe shrimp and squid

  • 60 g king oyster and enoki mushrooms

  • 60 g bell peppers (red and yellow)

  • 60 g bok choy

  • 80 g broccoli

  • 80 g celery

  • 80 g thin egg noodles

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Anh and Chi Chilli Oil (optional, to taste)

Method:

  1. Prepare the vegetables: Wash and cut the mushrooms, bell peppers, bok choy, broccoli, and celery into 1.5-2 inch pieces. Set aside.

  2. Blanch the veggies: In a medium pot, bring 2L of water to a boil. Blanch the mushrooms, bok choy, and broccoli for 1 minute. Scoop them out, rinse with cold water, and set aside.

  3. Cook the noodles: Blanch the egg noodles in the same pot for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with cold water, toss with a teaspoon of oil, and set aside.

  4. Stir-fry time: Heat a wok or medium pan over medium heat. Add the remaining oil and garlic and stir-fry until lightly golden. Toss in the shrimp and squid along with the chicken powder, sugar, and oyster sauce. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes, then add the prepped veggies and Mẹ’s Sweet Soy Sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  5. Assemble and serve: Style the noodles into a shallow bowl or plate, pour the stir-fry mixture on top, and season with salt, pepper, and Anh and Chi Chilli Oil to taste. Enjoy!
